Online withdrawal function

Updated EU rules add an online withdrawal function for certain distance contracts concluded through an online interface. The relevant national measures apply from 19 June 2026.

What you need to know

The function should be easy to find during the withdrawal period and enable consumers to submit and confirm a withdrawal statement online.

After submission, an acknowledgement should be sent without undue delay on a durable medium.

Where online stores get stuck

An email link or downloadable form is not automatically the same as the prescribed online function. National implementation and applicability should be checked where needed.

Merqivio looks for publicly detectable signals; dynamic or account-only implementations may require manual testing.

What Merqivio does with this

The EU Returns & Withdrawal Scan connects publicly detectable signals to concrete pages, evidence and priority. The Risk Report shows what needs attention; the Fix Plan adds remediation.

Our scanners follow current EU rules

Merqivio maintains its scan criteria as EU legislation changes. On 21 August 2026 the checks below were revalidated against the official texts.

Legal guarantee notice: from 27 September 2026

Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 and Directive (EU) 2024/825 introduce harmonised legal-guarantee information from 27 September 2026. Merqivio has prepared this check but does not score it as a hard failure before that date. The GARAN label applies only where the conditions for a commercial durability guarantee are met.

Why this matters

Failure to comply with applicable EU consumer, product-safety and market rules can lead to enforcement, corrective measures, sales restrictions and — depending on the rule and national enforcement — financial penalties. A Merqivio scan is an automated risk assessment, not legal advice.
