Warnings are not a universal text block to paste onto every product. Article 19 links the online offer to warnings and safety information that must accompany the product under GPSR or applicable EU harmonisation legislation.
If a warning or safety statement is required on the product, packaging or accompanying document under the applicable rules, it should also form part of the online offer in a language consumers in the target Member State can easily understand.
Risk depends on the product. Toys, electrical accessories, beauty tools and household products can be subject to different specific rules. Do not copy a generic warning simply to fill a field.
The point of online safety information is to let consumers see relevant information in the offer, rather than only after opening the parcel. Review product tabs, accordions and mobile layouts.
Article 19 refers to a language that consumers can easily understand, as determined by the Member State where the product is made available. A multilingual store should not automatically show supplier safety information only in the supplier’s source language.
A scanner can search for warning and safety signals on a page, but it cannot always decide which exact warning is legally required for a specific product. Merqivio therefore reports “not found” or “possible attention point” instead of automatically declaring a product illegal.

The information should be clear and visible in the online offer. Relying only on a hard-to-find PDF can be impractical, so review the presentation carefully.
